Huawei is preparing to make waves again in the foldable smartphone market with the upcoming Huawei Mate X7, and a fresh leak has unveiled some game-changing upgrades.
The new leak, reportedly from well-known tech tipster @DigitalChatStation, shares insights from what’s described as an engineering prototype. According to the source, Huawei is set to push the envelope in display quality and camera innovation.
Huawei Embraces Advanced Display and Build Tech
The Mate X7 is expected to feature a 7.95-inch 2K display, a marginal but significant increase over its predecessor’s 7.93-inch panel. The company is believed to be adopting COE LTPO technology alongside Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG), enhancing both visual quality and device durability.
COE, or Color Filter on Encapsulation, allows for thinner panels and brighter visuals while increasing power efficiency. Its combination with LTPO results in dynamic refresh rates and improved energy management.
UTG brings the foldable experience closer to traditional glass screens. This material offers not only better folding flexibility but also premium clarity and tactile response, key traits in high-end foldables.
Hefty Performance Boost with Kirin 9030
Performance-wise, the Mate X7 could debut with Huawei’s next-generation Kirin 9030 processor. While not officially confirmed, the chipset is rumored to offer a 20% improvement in performance compared to its predecessor, setting the stage for smoother multitasking and AI capabilities.
Huawei’s new-gen platform is likely to come with better heat management, graphics handling, and enhanced network capabilities — a much-needed boost in the competitive foldable phone landscape.
Camera: Premium Sensors and New Features Incoming
According to the leak, Huawei is equipping the Mate X7 with two advanced camera sensors — a 50MP 1/1.56-inch and a 1/1.3-inch sensor. These sensors will reportedly include variable aperture support, enabling greater light capture and better low-light performance.
The Mate X7 could also sport a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, offering crisp macro shots and long-range zoom with minimal distortion. An upgraded multi-spectral sensor is also in the mix, hinting at improved color reproduction and image clarity.
Huawei may also debut new camera features, possibly powered by AI, that take advantage of the enhanced optics.
Lightweight, Waterproof, and Premium All Over
In addition to the display and camera improvements, Huawei is focused on making the Mate X7 ultra-lightweight while retaining a high-level waterproof rating — a rare combination in foldable devices.
The Mate X7 is expected to follow the design legacy of the Mate X6 but with noticeable upgrades across the board. From engineering to materials, Huawei appears to be crafting a flagship foldable that balances performance, durability, and elegance.
With its advanced display panel, cutting-edge camera tech, and refined build, the Huawei Mate X7 could solidify the brand’s place as a top contender in the premium foldable segment.
