Huawei has already told users that its new HarmonyOS can swap files with Apple devices – and it’s planning to open the same trick for Android phones soon.
The latest hint comes straight from Huawei’s help centre, where a quick‑topic list includes a question about moving files between HarmonyOS 6 and Android. In the post, Huawei says it’s on the job and that development is steady, with monthly HarmonyOS updates aimed at polishing the user experience. Once the Android‑file‑transfer feature is ready, it should run smoothly, but an official launch date is still pending.
At a recent launch event, Huawei unveiled HarmonyOS 6, its newest native operating system. One of the headline features is the ability to send photos and documents to Apple devices, a move that mirrors Apple’s AirDrop and uses a short‑range, internet‑enabled connection.

HarmonyOS now powers over 90 Huawei phones, including the latest flagship models from the Pura and Mate series. A first‑beta build is already available for a handful of supported devices, with more upgrades expected shortly.
Since its launch in 2019, Huawei’s HarmonyOS has evolved from a simple OS to a fully native platform, ditching Android libraries entirely. This shift means better performance and a smoother UI/UX with every update.
Huawei is determined to challenge Android’s hold on the Chinese market. With a 17% share, Huawei sits third, while iOS is second, according to CounterPoint Research.
The company intends to roll out the iOS‑to‑HarmonyOS file‑transfer feature in December for HarmonyOS 6 users, but we’ll have to keep an eye out for the official release date of the Android version.
