Following Mercedes-Benz South Africa’s pricing revisions for the GLC SUV range, the local arm has revealed a new derivative — the GLC 200 4Matic.

The GLC 200 sits alongside the diesel-powered models in the GLC SUV lineup (the 220d and 300d). It uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 48 V mild-hybrid tech. The four-cylinder unit delivers 150 kW and 320 Nm of torque, sent to all four wheels through the 9G-tronic nine-speed automatic transmission.

Inside, the GLC 200 features a portrait-oriented 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. There’s also a wireless smartphone charging tray. Standard comfort and convenience items include heated front seats with lumbar adjustment, privacy glass, and a tow hitch. For safety, the model comes with a range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including blind-spot monitoring and active park assist.

Mercedes-Benz SA has yet to announce pricing for the GLA 200 4Matic. However, the upcoming model is expected to be the most affordable derivative in the range.
