The Atto 8 is offered in two trims: Premium and Performance AWD. It uses BYD’s fifth-generation DM Super Hybrid Technology, pairing an electric motor(s) with a 110 kW/220 Nm 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The Premium gets a single electric motor, delivering a combined 205 kW and 315 Nm to the front wheels via a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). The Performance AWD adds a second electric motor for a combined 359 kW and 675 Nm.
The FWD version rides with a 19 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) Blade Battery, giving an EV-only range of 75 km and a total range of 892 km from a full 60-litre fuel tank. The AWD model uses a larger 35.6 kWh battery, providing up to 130 km of EV-only driving. Its claimed combined range is 844 km.
Fuel economy figures are as follows: the Atto 8 Premium returns about 2.9 L/100 km on a full hybrid battery, or 6.9 L/100 km combined. The Atto 8 Performance AWD is rated at around 2.2 L/100 km when the battery is charged, and 7.8 L/100 km combined.
