We’ve rounded up the top five best-selling Chinese car brands in South Africa for April 2026. Here’s the rundown.
In April 2026, 47,979 new vehicles were sold in South Africa. Of these, passenger cars accounted for 34,414 and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) for 10,966. For this list, we’ve listed each company’s subsidiaries separately (for example, GWM and Haval, and Chery with Omoda & Jaecoo).
5. GWM – 719

GWM stayed in fifth place with 719 units sold in April 2026, a decline of 305 from March. The P-Series was the top GWM model, moving 588 units. Also selling well were two new Steed pickups, five Tank 500s and 153 Tank 300s.
4. Omoda & Jaecoo – 1 383

Omoda & Jaecoo totalled 1,383 new vehicles in April 2026. The Omoda C5 led the charge with 884 units sold, making up 63.9% of the brand’s total. (Note: in April 2026, the C5 SHS hybrid joined the C5 lineup.) The Jaecoo J5 sold 243 units; the J7 moved 133 units. The Omoda C7 accounted for 73 units, and 50 of the C9 flagship SUV found buyers.
3. Haval – 1 736

Haval’s Jolion led the brand’s sales with 1,277 units, representing about 73.5% of Haval’s total for April. The larger Jolion Max has been confirmed for SA and will launch in the second half of this year. The H6 and H7 followed with 413 and 46 units, respectively.
2. Jetour – 1 804

Jetour held second place among Chinese brands in SA for April 2026, with 1,804 vehicles sold – up 36 from March. The T2 dominated, with 1,004 units sold, and the model is set to be built in SA alongside the T1 from 2027. The Dashing was the second-best seller for Jetour, with 305 units; the T1 sold 299, and the X70 Plus 196.
1. Chery – 2 462

Chery topped the Chinese-brand charts in SA for April 2026, selling 2,462 units (up 72 on March). The Tiggo 4 Pro/Cross led the charge with 1,871 units sold, making it the top-selling passenger car in SA for April 2026. The Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9 accounted for 425, 119 and 47 units, respectively.
