Geely has expanded its E5 range with a new flagship, the Apex Plus. The powerful newcomer shares the same front-mounted electric motor as its E5 siblings — 160 kW and 320 Nm of torque — but gets a bigger battery.
The Apex Plus pairs that motor with a larger lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery — 68.4 kWh, up from 60.8 kWh in the Aspire and Apex. That gives a claimed range of 450 km, an increase of 20 km over the Aspire and 40 km over the Apex. Geely says a 11 kW AC charge from 0–100% takes seven hours, while a 100 kW DC fast charge from 30–80% takes 20 minutes.
Performance-wise, the E5 Apex Plus hits 0–100 km/h in 7.6 seconds, which is 0.7 seconds slower than the Aspire and 0.5 seconds slower than the Apex. Top speed across the range is 175 km/h.
Standard equipment includes a 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone charging, USB-A and USB-C ports, keyless entry and start, voice control, partial leather seats, electric adjustment for the front seats, and a panoramic sunroof. The Apex Plus also comes with a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The Geely E5 Apex Plus starts at R788,888, which is R88,889 more than the Aspire and R28,889 more than the Apex. The price includes a six-year/120 000 km service plan, a six-year/150 000 km vehicle warranty, and an eight-year/200 000 km battery warranty. All models come with a wallbox home charger, an emergency charging cable, and a R12 000 charging voucher when financed through Geely Finance.
