Mawhoo opens up about the drama that turned her friendship with Naledi Aphiwe into a feud
Amapiano sensation Mawhoo has finally spoken out about the tensions that erupted between her and fellow vocalist Naledi Aphiwe. In a fresh interview with Selbeyonce on Gagasi FM, the artist took the microphone to explain how a once‑friendly partnership turned into a bitter battle.
According to Mawhoo, the two starved had a good start. “We were both excited about collaborating and had even booked a studio session,” she recalled. “Naledi flew in from her hometown for that session, and we had a solid record in the making.”
But the momentum stalled, and the relationship soured when an altercation involving Mawhoo’s sister, Amahle, spilled over.
“The beef started when she started fighting with my sister. My sister was hosting an event, and both of us were booked. Things got messy when she tried to bring in almost 12 people who didn’t buy tickets.”
Mawhoo added that the argument escalated the next day when her sister asked Naledi for a refund. “Naledi started swearing, insulted uAmahle, and I lost track of the words she used. She also made a hurt‑ful comment about my sister’s late child. It got very bad.”
Feeling personally attacked after her sister’s fallout with Naledi, the singer says she tried to cut ties and walk away from the drama. “Naledi started taking jabs at me too, so I had to step back. That’s why I broke off and ended the relationship.”
