A turbo‑charged day of action
During the weekend’s festivities, Austrian driver Patrick Friesacher took the wheel of the legendary Red Bull Racing RB8 – the very car that helped Sebastian Vettel seal his third straight F1 Driver’s Championship in 2012. The demo gave spectators a taste of the raw power and precision that defined one of the sport’s most iconic machines.
Adding local flair, spinning superstar Samkeliso “Sam Sam” Thubane spun his BMW E30 ‘Gusheshe’ into the spotlight, leading a dynamic display of wheel‑spin tricks alongside other regional spinners. Their energetic performance added a lively, distinctly Cape Town twist to the F1‑centric event.
With fans cheering, cars flashing, and the ocean breeze whipping through Green Point, the Heineken World Tour proved that motorsport and local culture can race side‑by‑side in spectacular fashion.
