Honor’s new GT2 series will bring a 165 Hz display to gamers
The Chinese brand Honor is on the brink of launching its next‑generation gaming phones – the GT 2 series – and first‑hand leaks hint at a stellar display that will outshine its closest rival, the GT Pro. Fans can expect a lightweight thin‑plate (LTPS) panel that stretches past 6.8 inches, packs a 1.5k pixel resolution and runs at a blistering 165 Hz. That’s a jump when you compare it to the current GT Pro’s 6.78‑inch LTPO screen, which offers FHD+ resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate.
Battery upgrade that could change the game
Recently, Honor rolled out new models in China that boast a massive 9 000‑mAh battery – the surest sign that the GT 2 will be equipped with this power‑house. The amount of juice available means longer playtime and a huge edge over other gaming phones on the market. The present GT Pro already sports a 7‑2200‑mAh Qinghai Lake battery that charges to full in just 38 minutes thanks to 90 W wired SuperCharge, smart voltage regulation and a custom in‑house energy‑step chip. The reliability of that tech will likely carry over to the GT 2.
Even stronger performance to follow
The current GT Pro runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite power‑chip, LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage. The GT 2 series is expected to up the ante with the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 system‑on‑chip, which should give users a smoother, more responsive gaming experience.
No official launch date yet
Honor has not yet set a launch date for the GT 2 series, but based on past releases, the new lineup won’t be far away. Keep your screens ready – the next‑gen gaming phone is coming.
