Honor gears up for the Magic 8 Ultra – the biggest upgrade yet
Honor is priming its highly‑anticipated Magic 8 Ultra Edition for launch next year, boasting major improvements across the board – from battery life and camera sensors to chipset performance and display quality. The phone is still in the development phase but is expected to hit official stores in the first half of 2025.
Tipsters are busy releasing new spec details, outlining exactly how the Magic 8 Ultra’s camera, display, and other key parameters will stack up against the most recent flagship releases.
DigitalChatStation reports that the new model will feature the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor that powers the other Magic 8 series handsets, delivering a powerful boost in performance.
Biometric security stays true to the rest of the Magic 8 lineup. Honor remains the sole brand offering dual 3D authentication—facial recognition and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor—on a single device.
The company is testing the OmniVision OV50R main camera sensor, a 50‑megapixel ultra‑high dynamic imaging component. The sensor is still in development and could begin mass production in Q1 2026.
In addition to the ultra‑high‑resolution front camera, the Magic 8 Ultra will ship with a 200‑megapixel periscope telephoto camera on a large sensor, likely delivering 4.3× to 7× optical zoom. Expect sharper imaging and better low‑light performance.
Display rumours hint at a 6.7‑inch LTPO OLED quad‑curved panel with 1.5K resolution. The battery is sketched to be at least 7,000 mAh, ensuring ample talk‑time.
The handset will run Honor’s MagicOS 10 (based on Android 16), which promises a host of new tweaks and features. Other surprises are still under wraps, but more details are likely to surface in the coming days.
