Hyundai i30N Could Be Back – Maybe Even Hybrid‑Powered
The all‑turbo i30N, which Hyundai removed from its lineup a couple of years ago, is making headlines again. Sources say the hot‑hatch might return, and this time it could feature a hybrid‑turbopetrol engine.

The i30N first hit the roads in 2017 as part of Hyundai’s high‑performance N sub‑brand. It was designed to give the big players in the D‑segment—Volkswagen’s Golf GTI and Ford’s Focus ST—a credible answer. Built on the dependable i30 hatchback, the N makeover delivered a host of upgrades: an uprated 2.0‑litre G4KH “Theta II” turbo engine that churned out 206 kW (279 hp) and 392 Nm (289 lb‑ft), a stiffer chassis, adaptive suspension, and an electronic limited‑slip differential. Those tweaks turned the car into a serious contender on the hot‑hatch stage, even earning it the 2023 CAR Performance Shootout title.
