Jaecoo’s hybrid J5 is coming to South Africa

The Chery‑owned brand Jaecoo is taking its compact SUV up a notch – a new hybrid version of the J5 is set to hit South African roads. After arriving in September 2025 as Jaecoo’s second car in the market, the J5 already sits just below the larger J7 in the brand’s crossover and SUV lineup.
Initially, all J5 models swim on a single 1.5‑litre turbocharged four‑cylinder engine. But Jaecoo is now expanding the local J5 range by adding a hybrid version, giving buyers a greener option without losing the compact SUV’s practicality.
