New Models
In a move that’s catching the eye of off‑road enthusiasts and business owners alike, the Chinese truckmaker JMC has officially re‑entered the South African market. The company launched its first local product—a range of single‑ and double‑cab Vigus bakkies—through a new partnership with distributor Salvador Caetano Auto South Africa.
A Strong Start
The Vigus comes in two engine layouts and is engineered for rugged work and tough terrain. From the moment of launch, JMC’s plan is clear: roll out the current‑generation Vigus at its first few showrooms and then make a wider splash across the country.
Road‑to‑Nationwide Presence
JMC’s ambitions are bold. The company aims to open roughly 40 dealerships by 2026, giving South Africans plenty of options to test drive and purchase their new bakkie. Salvador Caetano Auto South Africa will handle local sales, marketing and after‑sales support—an alliance that should give the brand a strong foothold in a competitive market.
What’s Inside the Box
With its double‑cab model providing extra passenger space and the single‑cab version offering a manoeuvrable, tight‑knit design, the Vigus is set to compete on performance, durability and value. While the exact specs and pricing weren’t disclosed, industry insiders expect the truck to match the rugged reliability JMC has built its reputation on in other markets.
In the Spotlight
The launch photos show the Vigus in action—from frontal views to side‑profile shots, and even a close‑up of the cab. All images bear the JMC logo and highlight the vehicle’s robust look.
Bottom line: JMC is back in South Africa, and it’s bringing a fleet of rugged bakkies that look ready to tackle both the everyday job and the toughest off‑road challenges. Keep an eye out for the new dealerships opening across the country – by 2026, they say the fleet will be as common as the roads themselves.
