Xiaomi 17 Ultra plans to wow users with a new display tech
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra will skip the rear display that many fans expected – a bit of a let‑down for some. But the brand is ready to surprise its customers by pushing a brand‑new, full‑RGB lossless screen that could change the way we look at phones.
According to a tipster on Weibo – @SmartPikachu – the Ultra will ditch the older 2K resolution panel in favour of a next‑generation, full‑RGB lossless display. This means every shade of the standard sRGB colour spectrum (red, green, and blue) will be reproduced accurately, without the compression that usually hurts image quality and colour fidelity.
A full‑RGB lossless panel can deliver exactly the same colours that the eye sees, making every image look more vibrant. It produces sharper gradients even in the darkest and brightest parts of a picture – something that the older limited RGB displays can’t do as well.
Put simply, the new screen tech will focus on getting colour just right and giving users a far more impressive viewing experience than the previous‑generation Xiaomi models.
This also hints that Xiaomi will adopt this display technology across future devices, abandoning the 1.5‑ or 2K‑resolution screens that have been standard until now.
In addition, reports suggest the 17 Ultra will feature a flat screen instead of a curved one. Coupled with a premium panel, the company could raise the price of this flagship model compared to the other Xiaomi 17 variants – a possible way to offset the missing rear display.
While Xiaomi has yet to confirm any specifics about the Ultra, the leaks keep coming. We’re sure to learn more as the launch date approaches.
