Volkswagen Group Africa Drops the Hints on the 2026 Amarok – A Possible “Raptor”‑Style Showstopper

Published 28 November 2025 | By Ian McLaren

What’s coming to the Amarok?

Volkswagen Group Africa just confirmed that the 2026 version of its popular Amarok double‑cab will get a major makeover – and the changes could see it stepping up to be a real rival to the Ford Ranger Raptor.

The new model is set to get an upgraded powertrain, mirroring the updates that Ford is rolling out for its new Ranger and Everest trucks. Because the Amarok is built on the same Silverton plant as the Ranger, the same technology‑sharing arrangements mean the two brands will get the latest kits by default.

So, if you’ve been waiting for a punchier Amarok that can handle both work and adventure, 2026 looks set to deliver. Stay tuned for more details on engine options, new features, and whether the Amarok will finally get a “Raptor”‑style name tag.

About the Amarok
The modern Amarok is a key part of Volkswagen’s partnership with Ford, sharing drivetrain technology, interior parts, and, most importantly, the production line at Silverton. This collaboration keeps the Amarok in the same league as its American cousin, while still giving it that German touch players love.

That’s all we know so far. Keep scrolling – we’ll bring you the latest updates as they hit the press.
