Volkswagen’s Kariega plant rolls out the 2 millionth Polo – a milestone hit a year early
A sleek grey Polo just rolled off the assembly line at Volkswagen’s Kariega plant in the Eastern Cape, marking the production of the company’s 2 millionth Polo. The moment was captured in a photo that shows the new car glinting under the South African sun, with the plant’s iconic façade in the background.
This achievement follows the 500 000th current‑generation Polo and the three‑millionth vehicle built at the same facility. By hitting two million Polos a year before the 30th anniversary of Polo production in South Africa, Volkswagen Group Africa celebrated a major milestone in the brand’s long‑standing local manufacturing heritage.
