Huawei to launch Apple‑compatible file transfer in HarmonyOS 6 this December

Huawei has just announced a new iOS file‑transfer feature built into its upcoming HarmonyOS 6, which is slated for release by the end of the year.

With the new update, HarmonyOS 6 will let users move pictures, videos, documents and other file types between Huawei devices and Apple’s ecosystem – iOS, iPadOS and macOS – via a dedicated app that will hit the App Store soon. The app will look and feel just like Huawei’s own device‑connection service, giving users a simple way to see what devices are available and which ones are already connected.

Huawei has been offering cross‑device file sharing since the launch of HarmonyOS, enabling users to transfer media between phones, tablets, TVs and more. Bridging two very different operating systems, however, marks a fresh stride for the brand.

According to new details, the crossing‑OS transfer feature is expected to go live in December 2025. It will support a wide range of file types, from photos and videos to standard files and other extensions.

The switch‑over will work on Huawei phones, tablets and PCs running HarmonyOS 6 or newer. On the Apple side, devices need to be on iOS 13, iPadOS 13 or macOS 10.15 and above.

Huawei is currently testing a HarmonyOS 6 beta on premium smartphones, reporting a smoother user experience, fresh interactive themes and better overall performance than earlier versions. The full file‑transfer functionality is likely to arrive alongside the stable HarmonyOS 6 update.
