Porsche says the one-of-a-kind 911 GT3 S/C was built with driving pleasure in mind. It uses a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six that makes 375 kW and 450 N.m of torque, and revs all the way to a thrilling 9 000 r/min. Power goes to the rear wheels only, via a six-speed manual transmission.

Weighing in at 1 497 kg, the 911 GT3 S/C hits 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reaches 200 km/h eight seconds later, at 11.9 seconds. Top speed is 313 km/h.

Thanks to lightweight hydraulic actuators, the soft-top roof can open or close in about 12 seconds, at speeds up to 50 km/h. Controlled from a center-console button, the wind deflector takes about 2 seconds to deploy and can be used up to speeds of 120 km/h.

A first for a convertible 911, the retractable rear spoiler on the 911 GT3 S/C features a gurney flap—the same feature found on the 911 GT3 Touring. The front spoiler lip and rear diffuser carry over from the current 911 GT3. The car’s bodywork is fitted with 20-inch front and 21-inch rear centre-lock magnesium wheels, wearing 255/35-20 front tyres and 315/30-21 rear tyres.

Porsche 911 GT3 S/C price in SA

The Porsche 911 GT3 S/C is priced from R6 138 000. That price includes a five-year/100 000 km Driveplan.

According to Frank Moser, Head of the 911 and 718 model series, the 911 GT3 S/C “caters to customers’ demand for sportscars that are particularly focused on driving pleasure.” He adds, “The emotive powertrain of the 911 GT3 comes into its own even more emphatically when driving with the roof down on winding country roads.”
