Officially unveiled in October 2023, the updated Isuzu D-Max is set to launch in South Africa soon, after our report in April 2026. Ahead of its local introduction, we’ve pulled the pricing for the revised range. The D-Max is built at Isuzu’s Struandale plant in the Eastern Cape. The refreshed lineup includes 30 models, sold alongside a single pre-facelift Extended Cab derivative and a pair of pre-facelift single-cabs. There’s also a trio of Gen 6 prolonged-lifecycle single-cab derivatives on offer.
Locally, the updated D-Max keeps the 1.9- and 3.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engines from the outgoing range. The 1.9 is rated at 110 kW and 350 Nm, while the 3.0-litre diesel produces 140 kW and 450 Nm. The newer 2.2-litre 120 kW/400 Nm unit (the 2.2 replaces the 1.9 in overseas markets) has not been confirmed for SA yet.
In the single-cab D-Max line-up, the LS variant has been dropped and a new entry-level Low-Rider (LR) model takes its place. The updated single-cab range now has seven models. The 4×2 versions come in LR, HR and HR L, with a 1.9-litre engine paired to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. The 4×4 versions, which include HR L and L specs, are offered with either the 1.9 or the 3.0 turbo, and only with a six-speed automatic.
The Extended Cab D-Max range grows from six to eight models, with more 4×4 variants joining, while the L spec is discontinued. Both 4×2 and 4×4 Extended Cab models – in HR L and HR LS – are available with the 1.9-litre engine, paired to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. The Extended Cab LSE uses the 3.0-litre engine and is only offered with a six-speed automatic, in either 4×2 or 4×4.
The double-cab D-Max lineup drops from 19 to 17 variants. The pre-facelift AT35 remains on sale for now, and the X-Rider Black models are dropped. The 4×2 double-cab variants – L and LS spec – use the 1.9-litre diesel with either manual or automatic transmissions, while the 4×4 LS can only be paired with automatic. The 3.0-litre diesel-powered double-cabs include LS, LSE and V-Cross in both 4×2 and 4×4 versions.
2026 Isuzu D-Max price in SA
Pricing for the updated D-Max starts at R433 860 for the entry-level single-cab. The D-Max Extended Cab starts from R533 690, and the double-cab from R574 010. All prices include a five-year/90 000 km service plan and a five-year/120 000 km warranty.
