SVI Engineering has just unveiled the MAX Recon 6×6, a rapid-deployment tactical variant based on Toyota’s Land Cruiser 70 Series. Here are the full details.

South African armoured-vehicle specialists SVI Engineering has revealed the MAX Recon 6×6, a quick-deployment version of the MAX 3. Like that model, the MAX Recon sits on the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series chassis. Described by the company as an “apocalypse-ready” Land Cruiser, the MAX Recon features adaptable Level B6 ballistic protection, a 6×6 drivetrain upgrade with selectable drive modes (6×2, 6×4 and full 6×6), heavy-duty rear differentials, and a bogie suspension system. It also comes with a range of mounts for weapons, including a ZU-23 autocannon, 14.5 mm anti-aircraft guns, a Scorpion automated mortar, and 107 mm rocket systems.
The MAX Recon 6×6’s Level B6 armour extends to the engine bay, firewall and the roof, which has an integrated turret-mounting interface. The split windscreen is B6-grade glass, and each segment can be folded flat. Each door features a quick-release composite half-door.
The modular body can be configured for several roles and supports the installation of communications systems, command and control gear, electronic jamming systems and electronic warfare suites. Future plans include a 120 mm mortar system and advanced anti-drone technologies.

Pricing for the SVI MAX Recon is available on application. The vehicle is not available to the general public, with customers needing special end-user certificates to purchase.
