New Toyota Hilux
Set to hit South Africa in June 2026, the new Hilux uses Toyota’s trusted 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel. Paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, the 2.8GD-6 engine puts out 150 kW and 500 Nm of torque, available from 3 000 rpm and 1 600 rpm respectively. In models with a six-speed manual gearbox, power remains the same but torque is 420 Nm, available from 1 400 rpm. The ninth-generation Hilux will be offered in both 4×2 and part-time 4×4 configurations, and for the first time in a Hilux, it features electric power steering.

Ford Ranger Super Duty
This toughest Ranger yet has a gross vehicle mass (GVM) of 4 500 kg and a gross combination mass (GCM) of 8 000 kg. Ford has confirmed the Ranger Super Duty will launch in SA in early 2027, available in both single- and double-cab forms. It can tow 4 500 kg with a payload of up to 1 982 kg. The model rides on a reinforced chassis frame, heavy-duty front and rear axles, tougher suspension, and strengthened tow-bar mounts. Ford says this version’s new rear differential is the strongest and largest ever fitted to a production Ranger. Under the hood sits Ford’s 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel, delivering 184 kW and 600 Nm to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Updated Ford Ranger
Beside the Ranger Super Duty, Ford SA also showcased an updated Ranger lineup. In local form, the 2.0-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel is being replaced in favor of more models with the 184 kW/600 Nm 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel. An EcoBoost 2.3-litre turbo petrol engine has been introduced, producing 222 kW and 452 Nm. The 125 kW/405 Nm 2.0-litre single-turbo diesel remains, but has been upgraded for the new range.

Updated Isuzu D-Max
The updated Isuzu D-Max is listed for SA “soon.” It keeps the pre-facelift engines—1.9- and 3.0-litre turbodiesel four-cylinders—producing 110 kW/350 Nm and 140 kW/450 Nm, respectively. In overseas markets, Isuzu has introduced a new 2.2-litre turbodiesel that makes 120 kW and 400 Nm, but there’s no confirmation yet for SA.

Kia Tasman
Kia’s big debut in the bakkie segment arrived in SA in April 2026. The Tasman, sampled in range-topping X-Pro guise, marks Kia’s first bakkie. Locally, it uses Hyundai-Kia’s 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel, tuned to 154 kW and 440 Nm. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic and offered in either 4×2 or 4×4. Built on a ladder-frame chassis, the Tasman measures 410 mm longer in length than the Ford Ranger and the Toyota Hilux, making it 60 mm longer than the Ranger and 85 mm longer than the Hilux. It is 1 930 mm wide and has a wheelbase of 3 720 mm.

Nissan Navara Warrior
Nissan SA used NAMPO 2026 to showcase the Navara Pro-4X Warrior, a version developed with Australian engineering firm Premcar. The Warrior gets off-road upgrades like wider front and rear tracks, a suspension lift, and revised rear suspension. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with Maxxis Razr all-terrain tires and has a ground clearance of 232 mm, up 11 mm from the standard Navara. The Warrior runs a 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine producing 140 kW and 450 Nm, sent to the road through a part-time four-wheel-drive system and a seven-speed automatic transmission.
