Following Chery Group’s acquisition of Nissan’s Rosslyn factory in Pretoria, Jetour has announced its ever-popular T1 and T2 models will be produced in SA from 2027.

Jetour has announced that its increasingly popular T-Series models will be built in South Africa at Chery Group’s newly acquired (from Nissan) production plant in Rosslyn, Pretoria. The Chinese automaker will start producing its T1 and best-selling T2 models – the latter of which we tested in March 2026 – on local shores from 2027. (As a reminder, while Jetour operates independently from Chery in SA, these brands are related on a global level, with the former falling under the Chery Group umbrella.)

The Wuhu-based brand says it aims to produce 50,000 units annually in SA. The firm also aims to create more than 3,000 jobs across the manufacturing and supply chain sectors.

“This announcement to produce the Jetour T-Series locally positions South Africa as an integral part of Jetour’s global ambitions and underscores the growing influence of Chinese automakers in our market. This is undoubtedly a very exciting time for Jetour,” said Nic Campbell, Vice President of Jetour SA.

Since the T1 and T2’s local launch in October 2025, more than 4,500 units of these two models (combined) have been sold in our market. As a reminder, the T1 and T2 were two of the best-selling Chinese passenger cars in SA in March 2026, contributing to Jetour’s top-10 standing as one of the best-selling car brands in SA in March 2026. In addition, in April 2026, Jetour bolstered its local T1 and T2 lineups with the introduction of new-energy models in the form of the plug-in hybrid T1 and T2.
