Billed as a “design-led” and “tech-focused” crossover, the C4 is aimed at younger buyers, Omoda says. The C4’s exterior styling follows the Chinese automaker’s ‘Cyber Mecha’ design approach.

The compact SUV’s sharply styled bodywork wraps around an interior that hosts digital instrumentation and a portrait-oriented, 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also features a fighter jet-inspired engine start button. A 540-degree camera array and a 50 W wireless smartphone charging tray are also present. A trio of trim levels will be available, with the Ultra model (pictured below in a bright yellow hue) featuring sportier exterior styling elements.

Omoda C4 SA launch date

Omoda has confirmed that the C4 will launch in SA in the second half of 2026. Local pricing and specifications will be revealed closer to this new model’s arrival on our shores. However, we do expect that the C4 will be positioned below the C5, which is priced from R339 900 to R469 900.

From what we understand, when the C4 makes its local debut it will be available with the choice of two 1.5-litre, four-cylinder internal combustion engine (ICE) options: naturally aspirated and turbocharged. However, the ICE units are set to be joined by new-energy powertrains – coming in the shape of traditional hybrid (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery-electric (BEV) – at a later stage.

As a reminder, the C5 is currently available with a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel ICE, coupled with either a CVT (in the entry-level model) or six-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a 1.5-litre HEV powertrain – the latter producing 165 kW and 295 N.m of torque. The ICE unit is endowed with 115 kW and 230 N.m.

“The C4 adds something new to our range,” said Hans Greyling, General Manager of Omoda & Jaecoo SA. “It brings together the kind of design and technology our customers are looking for, while still delivering the value they’ve come to expect from the brand.”
