Geely has announced when its new-energy bakkie sub-brand, Riddara, will launch in SA.

The Riddara RD6 measures 5 260 mm long, 1 900 mm wide, and 1 880 mm high. The wheelbase runs to 3 120 mm. The RD6’s load bed is 1 525 mm long, 1 450 mm wide, and 540 mm deep. It sits 225 mm off the ground.
In the local lineup, two models will start the range: 4WD Air and 4WD Pro. Both offer a braked towing capacity of 3 000 kg and a payload of 1 030 kg. Water fording depth is rated at 815 mm.
The 4WD Air and 4WD Pro use a dual electric-motor setup with a combined output of 315 kW and 595 N.m of torque. Geely says this all-paw, all-electric double-cab can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 km/h. Seven driving modes are available on the 4WD models: Comfort, Economy, Sport, Off-road, Mud, Snow, and Wading.
Riddara RD6 SA launch date
The RD6 will launch in SA in July 2026. Local pricing is expected to be announced closer to the launch.
The 4WD Air and 4WD Pro come with a 73 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery, delivering an operating range of 424 km on a full charge. Riddara says the battery can accept up to 110 kW from a DC fast charger.
The RD6 rides on a McPherson strut front and multi-link rear independent suspension, and it uses disc brakes on all corners.
Inside, the Air and Pro versions feature keyless entry, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone mirroring. A 50 W wireless charging pad comes standard. The Air trim adds a rear-view camera and a six-speaker audio system, while the Pro improves to a 360-degree surround-view camera and an eight-speaker sound setup.
