In April 2026, Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) kept its position as the best-selling car brand in SA.

TSAM sold 10 188 new vehicles in April 2026, a drop of 3 135 units from March 2026, but the brand still held a 21.2% market share.

In April 2026, 5 873 new Toyota passenger cars found buyers. The strongest sellers were the Corolla Cross (1 144 units), Vitz (772), Rumion (747), Starlet (733) and Fortuner (664). Lexus, Toyota’s luxury arm, moved 78 units that month, with NX at 37, GX at 22 and LX at 10.

In the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment, Toyota sold 2 955 new Hilux bakkies – keeping the Hilux as SA’s best-selling bakkie with a 28.9% market share. The Land Cruiser 79 and Hiace registered 451 and 387 units sold, respectively. April 2026 also saw 74 new Quantum vans leave showrooms. In the heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) segment, Hino sold 214 units. Toyota’s parts division delivered nearly two million parts locally and exported 326 135 parts.
